It's the 7th month! And what is the 7th month? Wikipedia can help you there.
In essence though, it's the month when the gates of hell are opened, and so... there are more spooky ghosts around.
I usually don't care about these ghosts and spiritual things, but I have to admit, Chinese ghost things are more scary than Western.
A Western cemetery is considered "a place of rest". A Chinese cemetery is a place of haunting.
Ignoring Pet Cemetery, of course.
And last night, a well-known(?) Hong Kong(?) boy-band MIRROR held a concert last night, and a big flat-screen TV fell and it looked as if it landed over the throat of one of the members, then toppled over and fell onto another member (I don't know how many guys there are in that group... 9 maybe?). I thought the one that had the TV fall on his throat would have died on scene, but apparently he's hanging on. Report and video but it's disturbing.
And. It must be the evil energy from hell that influenced the accident!!!!!!!! Nah. more like substandard quality and cutting corners and things like that.
For anyone who believes in that kind of stuff though, Blue Tiger Eye (a kind of crystal/precious stone) is your friend. Wards off the evil stuff. I was told this is a Blue Tiger Eye bracelet, but the stones look so much more different than the other Blue Tiger Eye I have.
We're finally seeing a possible relaxation of all the lockdown restrictions.To start with, this KN95 mask that the government and health bureau have decided is so much more safe than a similar counterpart, the KN94. Why? Simply because 95 is a higher number and nearer to 100 than 94 is. But if you read all the specs and all that, the KN94 is actually more effective than the 95. But I digress.
So I also came by a rather silly news. A plot for revenge by falsifying someone's RAT test? Silly, but creative, really.
I really need to go get a haircut, but I'm waiting out for the first wave of people to be done. Because, even the neighborhood corner shop hairdresser-that's-almost-like-a-barber has to go on a reservations-only system *rolls eyes*.
There's also a bit of a team building-thing in the office. Colleagues have banded together to "order takeaway lunch together" but eating separately (coz of the government mandate). I am an introvert at heart. I don't mind people, but I really hate socializing. But I know I have to socialize sometime... and I thought, the office is working at 50% headcount, I might as well do the socializing now just to show that I'm not loner.... and I regret it already.
They've been ordering lunch and asking me to order with them. Okay. But they've been ordering really heavy foods, rice-based and all that. Fine. Today is Friday, and I was planning to order my usual salad, but now they said they've been ordering a few days and I should order for them this time. So I said I'm ordering salad. None of them wants salad. So now I'm forced to order some other kind of rice-based dish... and I really want my salad. Don't get me wrong, I like a good rice dish when I know I'm going to exercise that day. But with the government mandate that "going out jogging is a crime" these days (YES! You are allowed to go out for walks, but if you are in jogging attire and you are jogging, all sweaty, EVEN IF YOU STILL HAVE THE KN95 MASK ON then you still get fined)... I'm really craving salad.
Anyway, it's decided. Hainan Chicken Rice for lunch today.
It's Friday, so it's fish for dinner at home. I'll skip out the carbs tonight.
