elusivekSo, I'm throwing a bit of a snit at home right now. Mom wanted to go out for lunch at one of the restaurants under the company that I work. That restaurant is usually a no-reservations place, just walk-in. I pull some strings and get us a reservation, and when we arrive, we got seated right away. I suspect there's a "VIP headshot list" and I suspect I'm on it, as the hostess at the restaurant entrance just looked at me and spoke into her walkie talkie "Kat's arrived". I really don't like the "VIP headshot list" LOL. It's something I've only seen in US-based companies, and while it's a "Know your VIPs/Management" info sheet for staff, there's also a nickname for this list, it's the "Who's Next?" list. Because. Usually. When people get axed, they don't re-print the thing. They just black out the person that's been axed. Something like the (Harry Potter) Black Family Tree tapestry, if that helps some people understand.
Anyway, we get seated and all that, but then... complaints start. The room is too dark (mood lighting of the room). The table is too long (it's supposed to be a table for 10, only 8 of us showed up, of course the table feels large). And this and that and this and that.
Asking for discounts. I thought it being a Sunday and a Public Holiday today there'd be no standard discounts (blackout dates and all that), but apparently, the staff discount was still available.
Then, I had to drive different people home. Half way, cousin says she needs to stop somewhere else, so I drive to a whole other part of town (which is actually out of the way) and drop her there. I figured since we are there, I'd ask the rest of the entourage, which, was just my Sis, since we're that this part of town, is there anywhere we could go? Notice I said WE. I thought that was clear enough that I meant WE as in the TWO OF US. But my Sis, ever only thinking about herself, says "oh just drop me somewhere near 3-lanterns and I'll go walk around."
Alright. Sure. I'm here only to facilitate restaurant reservations, get staff discounts, and practically just be the chauffeur for the convenience of everyone.
