Pre-Chinese New Year
Saturday, 3 February 2024 23:43Ah... why is there so little time in a day? 24 hours is not enough! And I've already been sneaking some personal stuff (the dog shelter volunteer work) to do when I'm in the office (shhhhhh......)
Boss is on his holiday, so his Hong Kong driver came over for lunch, as the Chinese say "團年飯" "a get together before the end of the year". I took him to another Portuguese restaurant and he says that it was good and he will bring his wife next time.
I did a bit of redecorating in my room. I used to have a storage box in a corner of my room that it was a tad too big and blocked both doors of my cupboard. If I needed anything, I'd have to pull out the box, and then open the cupboard door. Thanks to the IKEA Raskog, I'm able to put all that was in that box, and some more stuff. And since it's smaller it blocks only one side of the cupboard door, so I can still access that cupboard from one door without moving stuff. And even if I need to move, it has wheels!
It's also the pre-Chinese New Year time where the "Flower Market" comes to live. Orchids, mandarin (or is it tangerine, the smaller ones) trees, peach trees, apple trees.
Pretty standard orchid (the cheapest one)
These are artificially dyed. Once this set of flower stem dies, when the plant next grows a stalk, the flower is most probably plain white.
Although the orchid I bought from 4 years ago IS starting to grow a flower stem, but I do not think it will grow in time for the Chinese New Year. So I bought a new one. I'm going to try to take better care of this one.
I sorted out my plants too. Repotted a few things, put some succulents together *fingers crossed they don't die*, and cleaned up a bit. I'm ready for the Chinese New Year!
Confirmed business trip to Singapore in 2 weeks. I'm being kind to myself. I know for my grading I couldn't stay in the same expensive hotel as the Boss. I found a pretty decent hotel in downtown area, but the cheapest room was without a window. So what have I been to kind to myself about? I got a grade up and booked a room with a window. Why torture myself?
I've also placed a deposit for some promotional cheap tickets to Osaka/Japan. If it goes through, I'll have to pay the difference, if it doesn't go through, I'll be refunded the deposit paid.
