I did a ridiculously early day yesterday.
I was supposed to wake up at 6am but my roomies were making so much noise (toilet rounds, etc) that I woke up at 5:30am and decided that's that.

Went to Taipei main station, got the required train ticket to Ruifang and away I went. Apparently I got a ticket with assigned seating.

During the almost 1-hour train ride, I saw, out through the window, an old man standing in the fields (we were in countryside area), probably just finished peeing out in the open and was flipping his wee-wee around, LOL. The lady heard my snicker and she looked over, saw that and laughed.

At Ruifang, I bought the Pingxi line day pass ticket. And off I went... It started to rain \(*o*)/ and well it put a damper to my mood. But I had to trudge on...

Arrived Jingtong, there was a persistent drizzle. Walked around by one side, what a beautiful place! Then I reached a place that had nothing... So I tuned around and went back, and went through the shopping street. It was awfully early, so nothing much was out yet.

Anyway, I bought a granny's Popsicle stick (it is, after all, a tourist area) which is said to be the same as during the times of Japanese occupation. With that Popsicle stick, I crossed the tracks, went over to the other side and checked out the coal coffee. Apparently, Jingtong, a mining town, had this huge abandoned coal house, and so they used it and made a cafe out of it. On weekday nights there will be performances. I met a new friend too, but I did not ask for his/her name XD

Then, I hopped on the train again and went to Pingxi. A little more residential-looking, there are a few posters on a green letter mail-box. I went there to see it, but couldn't phantom what's so special. I later went in search of a toilet and passed by an electronic information centre (imagine that in a rural place). Apparently, that postbox is the first and the oldest in Taiwan, used ever since the colonial times. Woooooo... The size of it was too big for widespread use in Taiwan's then-small streets, so soon those were replaced by smaller ones.

Next stop was Shifen. I did not buy a floating lantern. Personally I think that is only fun if you are with a bunch of friends. I wouldn't know what to fill up the lanterns with. I did, however, stop at a quaint little cafe :D

By then I was actually tired (I had planned to visit all the stops on Pingxi line) so I decided to head back to the city. As I took the train that led to Ruifang, it began to pour... So I thought, good going, Kat! And then after I changed trains to Taipei, it was all blue skies and sunshine.

Arriving Taipei, I first checked out the bus terminal for the airport bus. Good, so now I know where to go on Tuesday morning. Before reaching there though, I had a bit of mishap, and went to the wrong side of the street... But that wasn't a bad thing as...

I found a Maid Cafe メイドさん喫茶店

Any Otaku's paradise! LOL I could get used to this type of service hahaha though the food was on the terrible side. I had to oblige and tell her that everything was good though.

So I roamed around. Was tired so I returned to the hostel for a recharge... Then I left again for the Raohe night market.

Never go to a Night Market in the weekend, is my advice. I think I did ok already... My hoard-of-people-phobia acted up again but I survived XD and I made another new friend here too! A French bulldog!

Anyway, today, I am making this a lazy day. In the evening it will be the concert as well, so I'll be heading there too. I'll just go up and see if my roomies are up or not, then I could be a bit noisy and unpack my stuff then :D

More laters!
