Taipei - Day 3... Concert Day!
Monday, 26 September 2011 00:18You can't imagine what a tiring day it was for me today! But it was so fun and I had a blast!!!
I had to pile up my breakfast plate as the people were fighting over who gets breakfast! The peanut butter was surprisingly good... I haven't had such a good and yummy peanut butter for the longest of time!
During breakfast, I got to speak with 3 of the many hostel guests there. One of them was the foreigner girl I mentioned being my roomie. Apparently she's from Germany, but she lives (or works?) in South Korea. Interesting!
Another was a Japanese guy, with plans to go to Jiufen today. And lastly, a middle aged Japanese lady living in New Zealand and seemingly spending her time going on holiday. She's around 20 days in Taiwan, will leave a few days later, then going to Japan to visit her mom, then to Malaysia for 1 month. Hungarian boyfriend. We talked about many many things... other guests (fighting & making a helluva noise in the morning), places to travel, movies... LOL! I think we hit it off quite well :D
So... It was a lazy day today, but it was a tiring lazy day today! First, as it was too early to go virtually anywhere non-museum related, so I headed over to the Eslite bookshop. Story learnt: avoid Eslite. Danger of going bankrupt.
These are light novels, not comics!
Then I headed over to the Taipei City Hall station, and chanced upon this darling of a cafe: smith&hsu. Really lovely.
They first serve you this tray, so you can have a whiff of all their teas. Then you order whatever tea you like. Whatever you do, you have a limit of 2 hours; very good time-frame for an afternoon with a good book!
The scones were lovely. So I just ate scones, and drank a very nice blend of lady Earl & citrus... And spent almost 2 hours there.
Since I was there, I roamed around the Mitsukoshi complex. I did score a Burberry long wallet (ha!) but it was awful expensive. I liked it and I was in the market for a new long wallet. I simply went overboard with the extravaganza!
Then I walked to the Taipei 101. I shouldn't have, as it was just a waste of time. I decided to hang around Neo 19 to look for the concert place to no avail - then I saw rows of people donning the Okui Masami Live t-shirts!
I did something I would never, ever, ever do in my life: I approached the group and talked to them. They were very nice, bringing up to the venue to get a queuing number and to buy the tour goods. I got 6 chances to draw lots but didn't score the signing & handshake session :-/
Lucky I talked to these people... It was just 4pm and my queuing number was already 338!
I rushed back to the hostel to drop my heavy stuff (no lockers) and rushed back, passing by an animal activist group asking for donations. Gave them money and played with the 2 dogs they had. One poor dog had her eyes gouged out, because she bit a kid. Damn people!
Got back in time for the entrance!
First time in my life where a concert overruns... The Suede live I went to started 1 hour later, and the singing itself was 1 hour only.., this concert was a solid 3 hours, starting on time and all that.
And I'm very happy I understood her conversations... Not bad, Kat, not bad!
My loot at the concert :D
I was dead tired when I got back. No nonsense, it was a quick bite, shower, then hiding on my bed.
And finding out all 3 roomies are different people today.
More tomorrow!
