Singing in the rain

A friend sent me a link about a musical coming to Hong Kong in September / October. So I can hum the tune I'm singin' in the rain, I'm singin' in the rain but I have absolutely no idea what it's about. And I suddenly find myself having an existential crisis or something like that.
