Friday Five 5-February-2021
Friday, 5 February 2021 16:17I normally would wait until late in the evening to see if the other Friday Five is up as well, but... well... I'm bored, so!
These questions are from F.riday5.com!
1. What item in your house recently ceased (or is likely soon to cease) Operation?
Most recently, an old Canon Printer (10+ years) decided to breathe its last breath and we have since disposed of it and replaced it with a smaller HP printer that can do copy and scan as well.
2. If someone were to poker ’round in your refrigerator, what item might he or she have questions about?
All the items that have gone past the "Best Before" date. Aside from the obvious milk and dairy products, a lot of things we have are actually... for a lack of a better word, "expired". However, Dad (and he is a chef) says nowadays a lot of these processed food products can actually last way longer after the "Best Before" date, because it is a requirement for commercial purpose. We like to joke that "It's just past the best before date, so after best before, it's good!"
Not just in the fridge, we have dried foodstuff that supposedly have "best before"-ed for over 2 years, but since it's still in vacuum packaging, it's still there.
The one item I really like to joke about is my Mom's Cake. I guess it's a Christmas Cake, but we just call it Cake. (Christmas fruitcake type of thing? Brownish with a lot of dried fruits inside?) I've written about it before. My Mom has one of this Cake in the fridge for about 6 years? Every year around Christmas, she'd bring it out, slice a couple slices, then soak it in Brandy before packing it up and storing it in the fridge again. I know in reality she has had it for around 6 years, but I like to joke with her and ask her "huh, you're finally taking out your 30-year old Cake?"
3. What’s in your backPac, Man?
It's been a while since I've used a backpack (I'm assuming this is what the question means), but whether I use a backpack or my regular work handbags, I suppose I have the same things inside: Wallet, coin purse, home keys, tissue, mask, mask cover, lip balm, hand cream, (business) card case, portable phone charger, second phone (coz I hold my main phone in my hand) and iPad & Kindle (if I deign to bring them out on that day).
4. When did you last run into an old Flame?
Oh wow. It's a little sad that I never ever came across my first flame (I think he left the country/city). And then the most recent one was a holiday fling type of thing, so I never got to meet him again. Well, he did come over to Macau once, and when he told me about it, I offered to meet, but as I already had some pre-arranged commitments, I said I could meet him for lunch and then I can take him on a quick car ride tour and then drop him off anywhere. He just out of the blue said he wanted to stay the night in my place and rejected my lunch idea. So I said no, can't let him stay the night, and he got mad saying that I'm not eager to see him or whatnot. Meh. Hey I did offer to take you out for lunch and a car ride. And it's not like I'm the one who's so secretive and not saying what my itinerary was or where I had to go, since apparently he said it's a work trip. In the end, I didn't meet him, and good riddance too!
5. With what object are you frequently playing Hide-and-Seek?
I usually keep my things where they should be, so it's rare I need to look for things. I have a second home key that I call my "sports key" coz it's just the one key without a key ring, that I can put in my leggings or... do you call it a fanny bag? My running "fanny bag". My usual set of keys would be too heavy. Well, since that one key has no key rings or anything, I do tend to forget where I've used them last. Usually it's in that running "fanny bag", or it's in the dog walk bag. Most recently though, I picked up a new credit card and did not place it in my wallet, now a week later I don't know where I've put it. I'm not worried of it being stolen because it's not activated yet, but yeah, I need to remember which bag I put it in.
