I went to the dentist yesterday.
I just simply thought... it's been a good number of years I haven't seen a dentist, better go get my teeth checked out.
The dentist at first looked like he wanted to reprimand me for not visiting any dentist for close to 10 years.
But yet, he was impressed at the almost-perfect condition of my teeth LOL.
He suggested 2 things for me though: a veneer for my left front teeth because it looks cracked.
I said yeah, I was super naughty when I was a kid and tried to "fly" (by hanging myself on a curtain line, or something like that) and managed to break off my two front teeth (thank god still milk teeth), but it must have affected my permanent teeth at that time, so now there's a hairline crack pretty visible. But hey, you won't see that in photos anyway. It's just cosmetic, I'm not really thinking about that.
The other thing he suggested is a retainer for my left back teeth. Well. I never was a dentist person so I never really visited the dentist much. But some 12 or so years ago, I decided to go get my 4 wisdom teeth out, because the top left wisdom tooth was pushing the tooth in front and so it grew out (so, the tooth grew outwards towards my inner cheek lining).
The dentist at that time promised me that once I've removed the wisdom teeth (all 4 of them) then there's space and that tooth would align itself back.
Yeah. With a permanently half-numb tongue later (yes, the left part of my tongue permanently feels like... how after you've eaten something piping hot and you've burnt your tongue? That's what I've been feeling for the past 12 years), that tooth still hasn't aligned itself back. And that's actually half the reason why I decided to see a dentist yesterday. There was plaque buildup.
This new dentist though, showed me, it's not just the top left tooth that's grown outward. Because it's not aligned, the bottom left tooth has grown inward. So he proposes a set of retainers just for those 2 teeth. I'll need to learn to get an elastic band hooked into those whenever I'm not eating. 6 months to correct the position.
I want to get it done. The caveat is, those 2 last teeth are not really functional, so it doesn't really matter, but them being this way can very well affect the teeth just in front of them, and those are functional teeth.
I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday. I'll sleep on it. I think I'd go with the retainers and forget about the porcelain veneer... I don't know... hm......
