No real update for now
Thursday, 16 July 2026 17:47No real update honestly, just thought I'd check in for a bit since I got a tiny bit of free time today.
The Hong Kong Bookfair is going on and I'm really tempted to go over and have a gander. I just visited the Macau book fair yesterday, nothing too exciting though I did manage to get 1 book at a good discount: it's a book on the local Macau Creole "Patua".
Just had Korean class on Tuesday and I think this will be the last Korean course I'm going. Once this one is over, I guess I'll quit. The Korean is just not sticking. As I say in Chinese, 入腦唔入血 "enters the brain but doesn't get in the blood." You'd think "hey it's getting in your brain, it's good, no?" No. Yes, it goes in my brain, but I'm not fully immersed and my gut reaction is always Japanese. Probably better for me to take up Japanese again, probably. Though, I will say that I enjoyed the Korean classes as well. I just feel like for me, it's not getting anywhere. I'm not a big K-pop fan, I don't listen to K-pop, I don't watch K-drama.
I'm slowly reading a Chinese book. I'll probably not be able to finish by the loan due so will have to return it first (already extended once). I can probably try to find the same book in another library haha but nah, I'll probably just return it first, then after a while go back and borrow it again another day.
Right, yoga classes are all gone, now it's just the gym which I'm definitely continuing, and when my group classes run out... I don't know if I'll continue. I might since I'm coming to enjoy Animal Flow - doesn't mean that I can do it well. Just means I know it's something that's working a lot MORE muscle groups.
Oh, I did join the running group from the gym place once - but they chose to run too late in the morning, everyone was burned to crisp lol. But their evening runs are too early, so I'd have to skiv off work earlier to make. So, I haven't been able to join all their runs.
I guess that's it for now? My company HR assigned a LinkedIn Learning license to me so I've got access to all those training videos. I'm one of those people who gets really skeptical about these video courses. "I don't think you really did learn anything from a video." But hey, if it's something to gain points from the HR, I'll do it. I just finished the series on AI, and even with all the placating saying "it'll be helping you," I still don't really trust AI. I do use Copilot to help me fine-tune some more important emails, but even prompting those need a little skill, as I need to think how to re-word things without exposing real identifying names/incidents.
