Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations - Macau

This was going around Facebook, so I thought I'd share. No fear of exposing my identity, so this can go public XD

This is about MACAU! There's a bit of info that's not quite right, but it's still an interesting show.

He does an interview with Father Lancelot, my Dad's good friend, and well, he's a funny guy. He's very old now... I love it how he suggests a drink in broad daylight then says "it's midnight somewhere" LOL
Fr. Lancelot used call me and my sis his "little sailors"... yes... the school I went to had Sailor-moon-esque Sailor uniforms, LOL

The editing isn't quite right though... for those who would understand Cantonese, the part where he has dinner with the Chinese guy, Johnny Fok? (no idea who he is), the guy hasn't even finished speaking and they cut it out... another part is the "translated" part isn't really what they showed the guy said. Whatever.


Part 1:

It's quite informative, because even though I work in a Casino, I have no idea how most of the games are played. So... this is quite informative to me as how Baccarat is played. I thought they were playing at the Grand Lisboa, because they ate at The Eight, 8 a restaurant in Grand Lisboa. But I really didn't recognize the purple table and the Chandeliers. I thought it was Wynn, until a security guard appeared, and with that signature yellow security uniform... they were in the Venetian. hah... Good detective work, kat! But then for the "next day" he comes out from the Grand Lisboa again! (ho!)

Yes, the Clube Militar serves great light Portuguese buffets. And let me add one more thing, what it is to be Macanese. I may not personally know everyone, but I know who everyone is. So, I know who this Cecilia Jorge is. And the thing they ordered, Lady's Finger in Curry... I may not eat spicy food, but I love the Lady's Finger (the veggie/squash)! 
When I'm in Macau/China, people say "You're European." And when I'm in Europe, people say "You're Asian." ha!

Oh... the steamed milk is gooooooood! The Pork chop bun looks good, but I've never had that from that particular place. It's too touristy so I dunno. Yes. Ask any real Macanese, and the food is: Minchi! Though the Minchi is not usually served with chicken... I agree with the Recipe book thing. I agree we should teach people our recipes. What's with all the secrecy? My Mom bans me from sharing our family secret "Midnight Cake" recipe... but I will share it someday.

Oh, and the street food! Yum yum, though the Rice flour pasta thing (Zhu Cheong Fun)... it's not peanut sauce sir... it's sesame paste sir... and to me, this rice flour pasta thing is more a breakfast food than midnight snack.

There's a few parts where Mr. Anthony is walking around... he's just walking in circles. It's all the same place, from different angles (sorry, I had to blow that!) St. Lazarus' Parish area. Beautiful place.

So, I guess, it's enjoy!

1) I wouldn't know. I've got a few colleague in my workplace with that surname, so maybe the "Fok" surname is also quite a common one? ;-)
2) Yup, practically next to it.
