Anima Adoption Day

Anima, the "western" (or, "Portuguese") no-kill dog/cat shelter, held one of their adoption days today. I've been meaning to visit, but the event always clashed against something on my schedule.

And I managed a visit today :-D

All the animals have really sad stories, but yet they are all so sweet!

After hanging around for some time, I was meaning to leave, when I spotted these!

The usual people walk their dogs. This guy does this with more flair: he walks his turtles!

I also filled in a form and told the girl to assign me to any god-dog they have, that might not have a chance to be adopted. She gave me Leg-leg, a 3-legged mongrel. I've seen the pretty boy a couple weeks ago already, and I guess it's fate that the girl picked this dog for me. The dog wasn't there so he doesn't know this yet, but when the girl showed me his photo I recognized that face immediately!

Sponsoring a dog is something I could afford, so I'm doing it! Now I just need to reserve some weekends to go see him :-D

I hope you´ll be able to visit Leg-leg soon... Photos! :)

I guess all stories of shelter pets all over the world are sad. For some animals though it´s still better being in a shelter than where they come from.

I hunted a photo on Facebook, though I'm not sure if that's Leg-leg or if that's another dog. I'll be visiting this weekend, so photos are coming!

Yeah, had I known there was a regular Turtle walk, I would have had brought Charlie (my turtle) out when he was still alive... Pity, but still fun to know :-D
