I actually have another post brewing in my mind, but after last night's visit to the movies - Skyfall, I just have to rant.
Ok, I'm almost 30, and this IS my first 007 movie ever. I don't know if it should be a shame or not, but ohwell. Just. Duh.

The opening sequence was beautiful, I'll have to give it that.

The story was a bit stupid, really. I loved that porcelain bulldog haha, and the joke about it too.

Shanghai was really beautiful there. The problem I had was with Macau.

A rant will inadvertly attract spoilers popping in, so I have this under a cut.

Yes, I had a problem with Macau. MACAU!

The Macau that I live in. The MACAU THAT I BLOODY FUCKING LIVE IN AND AM STAYING IN AS I TYPE THIS, AS I WATCHED THE MOVIE LAST NIGHT!

Heck, even Rowan Atkinson's Johnny English had a more accurate Macau than the Bond movie did.

A casino with dragons does not make a Macau. Heck, a dragon does not mean China, FGS.

Macau also doesn't have such stunning, sexy prostitutes.

AND MACAU DOES NOT HAVE A NORTH HARBOUR! The only thing that lies in the north of Macau is MAINLAND CHINA. So there is no way the boat at the North Harbour could have sailed to anything up further north. You can't even go east, and west is even more of Mainland China. Why? BECAUSE MACAU IS A F*CKING PENINSULA! And a peninsula is an almost-island with a bit of land attaching it to the mainland, OK? Got it? Macau is a peninsula, Macau is a HILLY peninsula, Macau is not a venezia-type river and water place... a peninsula attached to China exactly at the northern tip of Macau. There is no North Harbour, and you can't sail anywhere up north, because up north is LAND.

And THEN! He didn't go pick up his gun! What would Q say?

And WOW, M was able to run that far, escape so far away, and was just standing there waiting for old hunter guy to look for something (bandage maybe?) and then... just drop down dead when Bond arrives with the issue resolved? Give me a break, give me a bloody break.

Are all Bond movies like that? If so, I don't think I'll watch any other Bond movie anymore. (Except for the one either in the 60's or 70's that was REALLY shot in Macau, or so I heard)

I agree with your dragon comment and the North Harbor thing, but I really couldn't care less about sexy or not prostitutes. Clearly that was in because it's a James Bond 007 movie.

I think whenever you know the city people are in, you see all kinds of inaccuracies. There was this Bourne movie in Berlin, and he runs through the city in random order...

haha, that reminded me of another movie made by a Hong Kong company, they had this guy running in a hurry from point A to B, but from the background of when he is running, he was actually running from point B to point A.....
