Macau Grand Prix 2012 (59th)

elusivekI'm not a fan of the Grand Prix in any way, but I thought I might share some tidbits of this year's events.
- On the first day of practice, 1 Portuguese motorbike driver crashed and died.
- On the second day of practice, 1 Hong Kong car driver crashed and died.
- The last 2 races on the first day of races had to be cancelled due to rain
- For the motorbike races, a British Mr. Rutter won first place. The gossip mill says this fat guy will not win next year. Well, this fat guy (so they say) did admit that he won because they only had to do 10 laps instead of 15, due to some weather and road condition issues.
- For the F3 race, a Portugese guy won, with a Denmark guy second and a British guy third. The flags were raised, and the National Anthem of Denmark was played. Anecdotal evidence states the Grand Prix committee then said they had no Portuguese anthem on file, so the Portuguese guys (winner, other racers, reporters, etc...Macau WAS a Portuguese colony before after all) began singing the National Anthem of Portugal on their own. Eventually, they played the Portuguese Anthem. Just shame on you, Grand Prix Committee. And to think your head coordinator IS a Portuguese guy.
Finally, the roads can run normally again and I don't have to hear the constant humming of racing cars when I'm on the other side of town.
