I'm back at home. My Taipei trip was really a short 3-day trip. We got quite a lot accomplished, of course, we still had a couple of misses, but otherwise, it was great!

The Trip
Good fun. The hostel I booked though, we will give it a pass the next time we are going there. Leopard Garden Hostel is the name... It was like being in a ninja-house. The room we were given was 98% bed. Beds are big (queen size I think) but, it's all bunk beds. A 3-person room, the last bed was way up there and we couldn't climb up, so I had to share the bed with my friend (so, lucky it was a queen size).

I was also surprised to see people climbing down from the ceiling, apparently there are many rooms, but the access of some of them are rather unique... it's like... you have to climb over the fridge to get to your room through a ceiling trapdoor... and if you have heavy baggage, it's a nightmare. I saw 2 Korean girls experience the pain. Geez...

The trip itself was nice. We ate a lot of good food, saw some interesting things, and shopped a lot. I haven't got all my shopping catalogued yet, but here are some highlights:

Good food galore - this hot pot was just $40 MOP or so (like, $5 USD only!)

I fell in love with a puzzle artwork and I bought it. Now, I gotta find the time to make it, then frame it...

My favorite tea-house in Taipei, Smith&Hsu. I love it here. I could come to Taipei and just sit here everyday (time limit 2hours per visit). I bought 2 tea containers... so cute!

He had dinner in a Izakaya-esque place. Too dark to make actual foodshots, but I'll see how the photos come out to be.

Bought a decidedly interesting book. "S." by JJ Abrams and Doug Dorst. It's like getting a 2 books for just 1 book (and if some of the reviews are correct, then there are actually 3 storylines in this 1 book). The actual story "The Book Of Theseus", the secret message from Straka to his friends, and the notes at the margins. Wow.

Fish market in Taipei! But I guess it was the season - I didn't think the seafood any spectacular...

We wanted to go to the Wachifield Dayan Cafe in Taipei, but I didn't do a proper research of it, it's closed Mondays, so it was closed when we got there... We settled for another Cafe down the street, Coffee Alley, but honestly, I wasn't impressed by the quality of the coffee there.

And that was about it, for the trip. It was a nice, quick, getaway. I enjoyed it, and it was really fun.

Updates on moi

I was supposed to be at work today, but I sort of got a fever or a flu over the night last night. I'm now sore and in pain all over, I feel like sh*t, I feel like I'm gonna be sick any moment, I break cold sweat, so I'm staying home... geez... I always get sick at the year end... I remember being sick last year around Christmas or the New Years' too...

And then the dogs take over my bed... WTF....

And endless telephone calls from work... argh, why can't they just let me sleep it all off...
