Pre-New Year Post!

Well, I do mean the Chinese New Year, so yeah!

Nothing much going on lately. I'm getting the next 3 days off (but, Saturday being Saturday, I'm actually just getting 2 extra off days). It's still a whopping 4-day weekend.

I went to have a year-end lunch with my good pal P. I'm going to meet her again tonight for coffee. Gee, it feels like I have no friends... I'm only meeting the same person again and again... huh...

Then I came home (half day of work only, heehee...) and started cleaning out the apartment. I trashed a lot of crap and moved some books back into storage. I swear I'm going to finish reading all the books I loaned from friends so I could return the books back to them. There's at least 5 books to go through (that I can remember).

My bed-and-reading-shelf got a makeover too

Cleared one shelfing-plate of books (placed them back onto the huge bookshelf that it's hard to reach...) so now I have one plate of space for my mini alter and other knick-knacks.

phew, I'm tired...

so it's dinner, then I'm going out to meet with my friend...

Happy new year!!! I'm assuming that's it in Cantonese, that you wrote? For some reason I always expect Cantonese and Mandarin to be more similar even though I should know better.

That food looks gorgeous!! (not to mention your bedspace C: )

oh yes, that's cantonese. Mandarin would be Gong Xi Fa Cai if I'm not mistaken (I'm not much well versed in mandarin... i try, and may be able to hold simple conversations, but that's about it.)

Yeah, if ever we do renovate the room I'm thinking of keeping it a nook style bed!

It's OK, I never feel like Portuguese hahaha..... but I should....

My brain is telling me that in Mandarin it's "xin nian(?) kuai le" but I didn't really study Mandarin for a long time and it was awhile ago, so there's a good possibility I might be making that up. :P

Actually, you are correct! 新年快樂 in Mandarin is Xin Nian Kuai Le and in Cantonese is Sun Lin Fai Lok, it literally means "Happy New Year.

What I wrote the other time was 恭喜發財 in Mandarin Gong Xi Fa Cai and in Cantonese Gung Hei Fat Choi. It's an auspicious saying meaning loosely "Welcome Prosperity"

yeah, I hate everything about my room and bed in general (it's really a kid's bed, I've outgrown that) but the shelf/nook space is the only thing I like about it. Sadly the boss at home (mom) says no renovating anything as the bed was built into the wall and she doesn't want to get such big renovation works going.

i mean. i think its pretty rad. but of course i dont have to sleep in it. just think of it this way, when you finally get out of there, your new huge bed will be all the better. ;)
