Work rant... Not really
Wednesday, 16 December 2015 10:50I'm usually very clean mouthed, but when people annoy me, I can get rather foul and potty mouthed.
I almost threw my work badge down and say fuck it I quit.
But then I thought back back to Mr. Leung (bless him, RIP) , my first boss ever, and the words he said so many years ago when I wanted to quit because of some stupid person...
So, I will just sit down, take a deep breath, and say to myself, "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger, I am better than that bastard" and slowly breathe out.
When even some friendly big shot from corporate office laughingly tells me to "Kat, chill and drink some soothing tea*," after he witnesses how the boss and I interact, it's really telling that I need to tune down a bit.
* 飲涼茶 literally means "drink cooling tea". In Chinese they say if you are always mad, vexed, you have a lot of "fire" and you need a cooling tea to help your body adjust and tone down. It's not a figurative thing, it's got more of a Yin-and-Yang sort of thing.
So either I was being very obvious with my annoyance or he noticed my face full of zits ("fire" causes zits to breakout too).
So this leads me to another fun topic.
Foods that are "hot" and foods that are "cool".
Anything "hot" will get you zits. And the "hot cough".
Deep fried stuff
Hot spicy stuff
Chocolates
Coffee (I think, because it's roasted)
Anything "cool" can help calm you down, but going overboard can also make you sick with "cold cough", cold, faint, weak, etc...
Bananas
Dragon fruits
And I don't remember what else...
But that's about it and I seem to have sufficiently calmed down enough. :-)

You quit because of a better opportunity or changed circumstances. You should never quit because of people. If you can guarantee the people at your next job will treat you better, then by all means. But you can't guarantee that, so you should never quit because of people.

Date: 2015-12-16 06:48 (UTC)Ut oh, I've only been eating hot foods lately. =(
Is a cooling tea something specific or just any tea?

Date: 2015-12-17 09:06 (UTC)I think any tea will do, because every time I drink tea, I feel a week kind of almost-cold-cough in my throat. Specifically though, "herbal teas" would be the true 'cooling teas'

Date: 2015-12-16 17:25 (UTC)I had a course mate from Beijing who one time told me about "the cool/hot food classification". If I remember corect he said that a cold either is caused by too much heat or too much cold or virus, and for some reason he could see that my cold was due to virus. Sounds right?
