It's very rare that i get to use this icon, teeheehee!

So, I did a bit more of my Christmas shopping today, and I also printed by gift tags. Pity about the printing quality, I think the ink got old, but I'm not going to bother hunting for ink as it seems ink cartridges for the printer model I have is extinct, but the printer is still in tip-top condition. *shrugs* we really hardly use the printer anyway...

Nothing much special happened today, though I woke up of a nightmare in the middle of the night around 4am, then I couldn't get back to sleep until 6am... it was a stupid nightmare too. I don't remember the details, but it had to do with my boss not helping me when I got into some shit working for him. Premonition maybe? Fear? *shrugs*

So we had our Christmas Gathering last night too. Recognize me? The cocky looking guy is my boss. The lady in the white top is my good friend/colleague who incidentally was my boss back when I was working at Sands China (or back then, Venetian Macau Limited). The girl in the houndstooth is also a good friend from University and we just happened to land in the same company

Because of my sore throat and feeling sickly, I asked if they served anything hot... yeah, coffee and tea, I wasn't feeling like having those. I casually asked if they are serving mulled wine for Christmas and the girl said it's not in the menu but they can make it (haha!) So I had mulled wine. It was yuck. I tried to avoid all beers as beers are cold, so when another colleague asked if someone would share with him he'd order a red wine, so I went for it. It was pretty good too.

Talking about Christmas, this year it's obvious that the number of hampers the boss received is simply going down. The Casino business is suffering lately so even business contacts are shying away from gifting. Though, we have been receiving Christmas cards, and this is the most ridiculous the boss has received.

They only placed their cards inside. At the very least, sign on it, don't you think so?

At the Animal Welfare volunteer work thing I go to, I completed my first job in fixing a certain mess... Some volunteer posted a notice without informing the association, it was about free neutering in a certain area... we have no budget, we have no resources, and this stupid volunteer does this... then quits. Then another volunteer who was stupid enough to help translate the notice put her own contact on the notice, and of course, she started to receive a ka-zillion calls and only then she cries out saying she doesn't know what to say (geez, you would think to have thought of that before putting your contact on a notice that goes public that you know will go viral. Free neutering? No criteria? Come on...)

Now there's the second other case with some 8 to 9 stray dogs, I might do something about that next week.

I did a bit of cleaning before Christmas, because, joyfully, my Sister and my Dad practically have the whole week off next week. Monday is a "compensation" holiday for the public holiday that falled on Sunday, Tuesday is Winter Solstice, Wednesday is a regular working day, Thursday is Christmas Eve, which is a holiday in Macau, and Friday is Christmas, also a holiday in Macau.

Key word, it's just a public holiday. It's not statutory holiday. So, yours trully has to work next week. Every. Single. Day. But since the boss is on holiday, I can arrange my time and work better... I'll have to work on a bunch of the Animal Welfare thing at work (ha!)

So anyway, I digress. Since this weekend is my last weekend before Christmas, I did a bit of cleaning up. I opened up my curtains and let some light in, and decided to keep the curtains up. Since that window faces a neighbour directly, I usually keep the curtain down, but now I see the neighbour has their curtains down at all times, so I'll leave mine open for a few days to let some sun in. Feels good to see some (fake) green too!

Ah, I have one last photo to share. My friend took this during our trip to Spain earlier this year. I thought I looked pretty cool here, hahaha

And that's it for today! I should be making a night trip to see some special Christmas lights thing that the city has put up... I'll do that on the 26th, I guess... There's also the poinsetta exhibition which I'll need to gain control of my car first before I can go see that... or maybe take public transport as I'm sure I will not find a car park there. Decisions, decisions!

A hamper is a gift basket filled with stuff, usually Christmas hampers have Pastiea, sauce, jams/compot, bread, tea, dried ham (usually a good packet of ... I think it's called prosciutto?), wine.

Other occasions such as Chinese New Years will be a basketful of fruits and a bottle of wine.

Business contacts send these to "keep a good working relationship".

That's a nice picture of you in Spain. =)

Volunteer stuff is so hard to organise because people think they're not responsible since they're not being paid. =(

the thing happening with many of the volunteers here is, they start with a lot of steam, then when they see things are getting difficult, everyone steps out... it's really frustrating.

I'm now cleaning up the mailbox and I can only convince myself that "it's for the good of the dogs" that I'm doing that.... (it's a nightmarish mess in that mailbox).......
