Snagged this off friends

1: What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
Took up an active senior position in a volunteer group. I used to only do sporadic volunteer work like dog-walking and dog-sitting on a when I'm available basis, but this year I've put in more effort in the animal welfare thing. I'm part of the founding members group and part of the board of directors, and I've also taken the administrator job more seriously - going to meetings (even if it means getting home past midnight). It's tiring, but at the same time, rather satisfying.

2: Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
The problem is, I don't even remember what my new year's resolutions were for 2015. I could probably search through the LJ (and I did check, I didn't make a resolution list for this year)
I did make 10 points for 2016 two days ago though.

3: Did anyone close to you give birth?
My good friend/colleague, identified as M

4: Did anyone close to you die?
*thinks* did anyone this year? No, not this year.

5: What countries did you visit?
Spain, and Thailand. I do not consider Hong Kong as a "country to visit" because Hong Kong is just an extension of home (besides, Hong Kong is a city)

6: What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
An assistant at work, so that my boss will make less fuss about my taking time off. My time off balance is reaching maximum target, and requesting for time off is like pulling teeth. But if I don't use my time off and it reaches maximum balance, then I won't accumulate any more time off, so I have to use it! But the boss is so fussy about my taking time off! "Be happy that you are needed!" he says, yeah right, needed, my ass.

7: What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
erm... none????? Yeah, none. Nothing particularly memorable happened. Or maybe I just forgot. Or memorable stuff did happen, but it was the event that was memorable and not the date itself... oops.

8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I dunno. Work-wise, I think I've gotten better. Once again, the volunteer thing that I do. I've also learnt not to give any flying f*cks and sh*ts about the crap my boss puts me through (last year, I did cry - twice, I if I remember correctly). This year though, I've taken up a "no sh*t, yeah right" attitude and I've been handling his type of abuse better.

9: What was your biggest failure?
Either nothing particularly failure-worthy mentioning, or I've erased that from my memory.

10: Did you suffer illness or injury?
2015..... not particularly, just the usual colds and flu.

11: What was the best thing you bought?
iPhone6s Plus, which promptly went to Mom as her birthday present.

12: Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Mine? *refer to answer #8 on handling the boss*

13: Whose behaviour made you appalled?
One particular colleague at work. She's very obviously 2-faced (i mean, you can practically feel her fakeness), but that never bothered me, as I had no work-related-political clash with her. But then, she said something about my friend/colleague *point #3* and geez.... I really got mad about that...

14: Where did most of your money go?
The vets. Because the dogs' medications cost more than my personal upkeeping.

15: What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Taking a selfie with Cesar Milan, and seeing The Piano Guys concert in Hong Kong

16: What song will always remind you of 2015?
Probably any of The Piano Guys, because this is the year I came upon their works.

17: Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?
(a) happier at work with my better coping mechanism, sadder at home as it's been getting more and more difficult to deal with mom
(b) fatter (I weighed recently, one word: sh*t!
(c) more or less the same, I'd say richer throughout 2015 because we had 2 very sick dogs in 2014, and this year they've completely recovered, but just recently I've splurged a bit because of my upcoming trip to London, so I *feel* poorer (just because I've been looking at my bank balance and I'm not happy about it(

18: What do you wish you’d done more of?
Traveling. I only travelled twice this year. Because my assistant left in April or May, and since then my boss has been difficult in letting me take time off. (All thanks to him: he's the one that was treating the poor girl badly)

19: What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying about things not under my control

20: How did you spend Christmas?
The usual hectic family party at my place.

21: Did you fall in love in 2015?
Well, if you count the figurative meaning, then yeah. I'm fangirling over some characters right now.

22: What was your favourite TV program?
I'm not sure if it was 2014 or 2015 that I did the Full Metal Alchemist marathon thing... if it was in 2015 then there you go. If not... what did I watch this year? Oh yeah, Criminal Minds... up until season I-forgot (I think either 5 or 6) that I started to find it boring and repetitive and quit watching.

23: Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Ooooohhhh yeeaaaahhhhh. There are a couple of meanies at work.

24: What was the best book you read?
I didn't read much in 2015. So the book isn't the best of the best, but if you're asking me the best in 2015... OK... it is a manga/comic type book (haha)... 一個人的狗回憶:高木直子到處尋犬記  or, if it HAS to be a book, then Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat.

25: What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Piano Guys, Jennifer Lawrence, Taylor Davis (gee, they're all either piano or violin people)

26: What did you want and get?
I... don't.... remember.... okay, I wanted my holidays in January 2016 approved, and I got them.

27: What did you want and not get?
An apartment. Or at least a renovation at our current place so that my sis and I can finally get separate rooms.

28: What was your favourite film of this year?
What did I watch this year?? Whhhhaaaat did I watch this year? For now I only remember one movie I watched, and that was just because I was mucking around with that TV box thing my cousin got for my Dad... The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I'm sure I must have watched something else too, I just can't recall if those were this year or last year...

29: What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Menina (one of my dogs... the Dachshund Mix) getting the all-clear from her vet.

30: How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
Skirts because they are easy to fix (read: let loose)... I really need to get back in shape....

31: What kept you sane?
The dogs.

32: Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None in 2015. Though in 2014 it was Benedict Cumberbatch because of all that Sherlock business. Oh wait, talking about Sherlock, Robert Downey Jr. And Johnny Depp. And George Clooney.

33: What political issue stirred you the most?
I'm not in position to feel anything politically. I shall explain in a future post.

34: Who did you miss?
hm... *thinks hard*... no one?

35: Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015.
Some funny punny phrase in Chinese, translated for your reading pleasure...

"To rest, is so that you gain your strength to walk on further. To go on diets, is so you lose some weight and thus can go eat more good food later."

36: Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Recently I've been into music only, so I can't think of any lyrics... though my all time favorite is from this song:

レールのない空へ (ok the embed doesn't work... link instead)

大丈夫!一人じゃない Don't worry! You are not alone!
みんな一緒だから Because everyone is together
各駅停車でもいいじゃない (don't really understand this one)
Get on

I'm feeling a little under the weather.
My right nostril is blocked. ugh. And I think because of that, my right eye keeps watering as well. It's annoying. And because it's totally blocked, I can't sniffle. So before I know it, I have snot running down my nose, only noticing when it's too late.

OK... it's the New Year here, just got past 00:00.... Dad made me go out to the living room, we toasted with mulled wine (to get rid of the wine, one less bottle to keep). Still feel like crap. Mom gave me some Vicks rub thingie and I'll rub it above my upper lip and just go sleep it away.....

erm... Happy New Year, have a good one! All the best!

"some we love, some we hate, some we eat" reminds me of "why we love dogs, eat pigs, and wear cows." same general idea i'm guessing!

i swear everyone i know right now is sick. :( hope you feel better soon!

I don't know... I guess? I'll check "why we love dogs..." out and see if it's something similar :-)

Thank you! I'm still not quite ok yet but I'm trying to push myself to get better :D

thank you :-)
it's really annoying, isn't it? My mom gave me some menthol vapour rub thing and it's supposed to help unclog it but when the air doesn't get through, it just doesn't work.

I fall asleep breathing through my nose and then snore in my sleep.
