Game: Pokemon Go
Thursday, 11 August 2016 23:24LOL I guess I don't really need to introduce this game as this is all the hype these days. But I felt like writing about it here so I can laugh about it in the future.
So the Pokemon Go game doesn't work in Macau. It loads up, the maps come out, but it's empty; there is nothing in it. No Pokestops, no Gyms, no Pokemons. I had to go to Hong Kong to help my Boss sort out some stuff, so of course, I took the chance.
The game itself is pretty straightforward really.
The psychic duck continues to be a favorite, be it 20 years ago or 20 years later. I GOT A PSYDUCK!!!!! My next target is a Meowth.
So the game basically only needs you to throw a ball at the Pokemon. I haven't gone far so I'm unsure if there are other strong Pokemon that we have to "engage" to bring the HP down then catch it (as in the Gameboy Games) but so far all Pokemons basically is just a try your luck in catching them. I felt so sorry for that Magikarp. WTF? Why is it on land?
Absolutely no idea what you have to do at Gyms (I wasn't Level 5 at that time, and even after I reached Level 5 I was too far away from a Gym). And I didn't know which team to join, so I just went with Team Mystic (at one point in time my internet handle was "Mystic K" LOL)
So after less than 1 hour in Hong Kong, I managed to catch some 40-something Pokemons. In the screencap above, I had already transfered all my double Pokemons to the Professor and got the Pokemon Candy, so it's down to the 20s.
All those news reports about kids playing and not looking the way, I have to say, you can switch off the AR function of the game. That way, you just have to "click" at the Pokemon and not try to hold your phone up and turn around everywhere for a photo (and thus causing all those trying to go to weird places). I noticed even if you are somewhat far away, as long as a Pokemon showed up you can attempt to catch it. At one point I tried to click at a Pokestop but it was "Too far away", but the Pokemon behind the Pokestop? As long as I clicked on it right, I can still engage it.
I've got 2 eggs in the incubators but apparently in Macau, walking and all doesn't count, probably because there are no Pokestops to marker the distance? I think? Whatever.
So... that's what I'm partially wasting my time with lately.
