Friday Five
Friday, 9 December 2016 22:301) What was your first day of school like?
Can't answer that with absolute certainty, without asking my Mom, but my memory of what I always think was my very first day of school was... my Mom held my hand and took me to this yellow building, then walked me to a room where there were lots of kids. I just had a blank face, not crying, because everybody else was crying and being bloody noisy.
Then my mom suddenly disappeared and I started crying. Meh.
I think I once tried to ask my mom if that was that, but she said no. So, I dunno.
2) What was the last day you attended school like?
I don't remember, as it was really anticlimatic.
3) Have you had a teacher who really influenced you?
I suppose... there's that one that slapped me (I maintain my innocence!) but since that I went from "following the rules" to "rigidly following the rules"... there's the singing teacher.... there's my homeroom teacher in my last year of high school....
4) What was the first school you attended?
Technically, it was the Dom Bosco (portuguese school). But very soon I got switched over to Santa Rosa de Lima.
5) To you, is college important?
College here means University, I think. So yes. But not in the sense that you are "specializing in a field", as over here, one hardly works in the field one studied for at University. It's like the first step into the "adult world" - I mean, in secondary school and high school you are still classmates with virtually everyone your age with a +/-2 years range. In University? +/-30 years range is possible. You get exposed to more cultured and/or refined people, the assignment demands are different, and you are polishing yourself to get into society.
So I say, for University, go study WHATEVER you want. You're 98% not going to end up in a job in that field ANYWAY (at least, over here in this part of the world), so take what you actually enjoy when you can.
