Hello all, meet Harley!

Mom wanted to call him "Snow White" (Branca de Neve) and then my Sis banned it because he is a male, so I said "Neve" (snow) or "Branco" (the male adjective of "white"), then I noticed that the cat is constantly purring non-stop. So I said let's call him Harley. Yeah. for Harley-Davidson.

Although now that I've Googled a bit about constantly purring cats and it seems it's not exactly a good thing. But ohwell.

Well, Harley is definitely more of a "housecat" than our Kitty (that nefarious tabby). He's actually more calm with the dogs. Though my black-and-white dog (pictured) is surely doing a good job of scaring the cat away. The big black dog Bido (will find a photo later) seems to be very enamoured with Harley though. He calmly walks to the cat and sniffs and makes a soft whiney sound then turns around and leaves. Harley certainly is somewhat interested in playing with Bido's bushy tail.

My sis did a thing with her workplace (an animal rescue place) and got referred to their vet who would give us a discount for everything, and the first vet visit this morning revealed that he's 4 months old (I don't believe it) and they suggested to let him calm down for a week, then they will start the full blood tests and jabs and deworm and stuff. Then when he's around 1 we can neuter him.

I'm somewhat unconvinced, and really want to bring him to our trusted-but-outrageously-expenseive-vet.

Harley is still getting to know the apartment and the dogs, and eventually needs to be cleaned, so he is still relegated to just the computer room. Only allowed to roam free under supervision, as we don't know if he likes to climb up and push things down (seen too many Youtube videos of cats)

it could mean it has a birth defect, or it hasn't settled down yet and is nervous, we're going to keep an eye on him for the week and if in a while it goes on we'll ask the vet

awww cute. as for the purring, maybe he's just outrageously happy to have a home? but i suppose you'll find out more when he goes to the vet.

the first vet we went do doesn't know... i really want to take the cat to our regular vet..... next time, I'll take him there.

Adorable! We actually originally named Booker, Davidson after Harley Davidson too because he purred so much. But then realized we didn't like Davidson and for some reason didn't think of Harley. Hahaha.

haha, he's already registered with the vet as Harley, but as with all our other pets, the registered name is rarely used... mom now calls him Whitey in Portuguese and I call him "motor cat" in chinese.

Harley looks adorable! He does look pretty young in the pictures, but he does seem a little big to be only 4 months. The purring may quiet down once he gets settled in and more comfortable in his new home.

yes, hopefully he just has to settle down first. if it goes on i might bring it up to the vet (we did ask the first vet but he didn't seem to know).

Next time he's going to our regular vet, very knowledgeable (but damn expensive... that's why my sis didn't want to take him there)

i'm a cat person too, but only 1 cat.

you live in macau, near hong kong? that's cool! i used to be very interested in traveling to hong kong and learning cantonese because of the hong kong tv dramas and music that i liked. but then i lost interest... anyway, i still think hong kong and macua are very special places.

if you don't mind me asking, were you born there or did you come from a different country and got interested in HK?

yes, Macau near Hong Kong. Cantonese is really such a fun dialect, I actually consider Cantonese far superior than Mandarin. But probably that's also because I can't seem to learn Mandarin no matter how hard I try...

Born and raised in Macau to a Portuguese/Macanese Mom and an Austrian Dad - My Dad has that funny why-come-to-Macau story. I always wanted to "get out of here" but in my various travels to other countries, I soon grow homesick and much rather come back home :D

i like cantonese a lot more than mandarin, too. but maybe i'm biased. it just sounds better to me.
