elusivekYes. It's my birthday today. No, I don't think it was a blast or anything.
I took the day off from work as I didn't feel like taking any more work-related crap on my birthday. Had a date with a friend for breakfast. Stood me up again. Well, I can't begrudge her, her kid fevered up, so she had to deal with the kid, which is totally fine, I understand. But a bummer is still a bummer.
As I always tell myself, "don't rely your happiness on others," so... even though she cancelled on me, it doesn't mean that I can't go there on my own.
So there it is, a "souffle" sunny side up egg. By my preliminary inspection, they souffle the whites, and poach the yolk half-way maybe? And put the yolk back. I guess.
It was a simple affair but it was fun. I read a lot of the book I'm reading (hah!) during breakfast and then headed off to the library.
The my part time job client reverted with comments for 2 pieces I translated (one month later WTF) and simply said "we don't like it, it feels like to google translated it. Do you understand Chinese?" Geez, what an insult. Okay. After some asking around, apparently they weren't just looking for a "translator", they wanted more of a "creative writer" since I could have just written the meaning of the Chinese essay in English, and not translate it. Because the original Chinese texts sucked.
Ok sure. Done. Google translate? Take that. I wonder if they will think I'm trying to be clever by using certain vocabs.
Hey, saying that my English sounded like Google Translate English is an insult.
Meanwhile...
My boss called. His supposed last day of work is next Thursday. The b*stard decided he'll just take the rest of the week off. Clearance, exit interviews, whatever else be damned. Really the b*stard. My day soured, not because I'll miss him, but he ruined all my planning. He didn't show up for most of this week already, so I have heaps of signings for him, and I also have to settle his termination. There are forms to sign. I had them all prepared, ready for him to sign on Thursday which is standard practice. Now he just ups and leaves. I told him he had to come back on Monday at least for the clearance and closing his pension fund. Let's see if he'll take it.
Then I chatted over text with my bestie. Apparently, I just missed her at the breakfast place by some 15 minutes. If I had stayed a bit longer I would have seen her. Then it was just a series of us being so in-sync with each other. Like, she asked, "so you have nothing to do next week?" before I could send my reply, she wrote "but you have stuff to do la", and then I sent my reply of "Well, I have stuff to do ger..."
Hilarity ensued.
After settling the translations in the library, I decided to just get back home. I passed by a stationary store and was this close to buying another water color cake palette, but then I decided to wait and see if I complete 2 months of journaling then I'll reward myself with a new palette.
Back home, it was pretty standard affair. Because it's my birthday, Dad made steaks for dinner. Because of the special menu, I had to cave and bend my rules - I've developed the habit of not eating after 6pm. Today I had to eat at 8pm, mrph...
Cake was served too. A Matcha thingamajig.
I'm just getting my bag together so tomorrow I can go for my yoga and pilates session again. I wonder if I will do slightly better?
