Journaling

Since I mentioned I was pretty diligent with my journaling, I thought I'd write about it.

Now that I think of it, it's not really the journaling that's keeping me on the journaling... it's the hobonichi challenge. Check out #hobonichichallenge on Instagram, those people are amazing. Those people that can actually draw, unlike me, who can't draw half the things to save my life, haha! Now in May we are on to Birds. I can foresee the hard time I'll be having! But it's gonna be fun!

First, there are the tools of trade. I originally bought those color felt pens for the heck of it, I had no plans for jounraling at time of buying them. The water color palettes though, had a short story. I first bought the bottom palette, it's a cheap no-brand color palette that served me over January through March this year. The colors were limited and I swore to myself that "if I could go through journaling everyday in January then I'll buy a new palette" and I actually managed to presevere until end of March! Then I bought the upper palette in March, when I was in Taipei. It's a Sakura Koi Water Colors. More colors as you can see. There is actually a third palette I'd like to buy but I've been successfully abstaining from that.

There's one part in my journaling where I keep track of stuff I've done. I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing in January through March, simply using a color to correspond to the thing I'd done, but it was really messy. In April (right) I think I got the style I like. I'd keep each activity in its own column as well. Way more neat this way.

Just a monthly planner so I remember to do certain things.

And here are just a couple of shots of my entries. These daily prompts of what to draw are what's keeping me hooked to journaling everyday.

January: Dog breeds. February: Love & Appreciation. March: Around the House.

April: Flowers. May: Birds.

I thought my interest/passion in this would fizzle out but surprisingly it hasn't! :)
