Moving Offices

... it feels like a big joke to me, but I'm in the process of moving offices again.

The thing is, I was initially working in an office where it's just downtown, and walking distance from my apartment. I loved it there.

Then, after my new assignment 2 years ago, I had to move to another office that's a little away from downtown, but basically just down the slope from my apartment, so it was super, super near home, and I loved it more.

In about a year, I had to move to an office rather far away, and I hated it at first as it's out in the islands, rather inconvenient, made me need to schedule time for the commute, and all that. But I've slowly grown to like going to that office.

And now I'm being asked to move back to the building where my first office was. At least, it's not going back to the same office.

Actually, I do already have a workstation in this upcoming office, but I never really liked to sit there. The atmosphere's a bit tense in that office, and for the past 6-7 months since my boss hasn't pushed the issue, I kept going to this faraway office for my daily work. But now, I can't hide anymore. I need to move to that office.

So it's packing again......

Back in downtown.... there's too many lunch options, but none are healthy salad options! There goes my nice streak of having healthy lunches in my faraway office. (It was easy too, as it's a faraway office and nothing is around, so I can use the take out delivery food order app)

ohwell... time to get used to a new office location again.

That sounds annoying! I hope you'll get to stay at this place a little bit longer and don't have to move again too soon.
Can't you make yourself some healthy lunch at home to take with you?

Oh, I certainly could, but I have an older contract that has some benefits that the newer contracts don’t: I get reimbursed for daily lunches (capped, of course), and it can only be for restaurant lunches. So if I buy ingredients and cook at home, it can’t be reimbursed.

I can of course ignore the reimbursement and make my own lunch, but it’s best to keep using this benefit, it could be that they may review it some time and say “you don’t use it anyway, so we will cut it” LOL

I just need to dig out the food delivery app and find another healthy food place in that area. Then I should be good... hopefully!

Oh I see - in that case, I would keep to the restaurant lunches, too ;)
Best of luck with finding a healthy option!

It’s some thing I’ll have to spend some time to do some research on in the next few weeks

Good luck with the move! Our company is moving in the middle of the pandemic/social distancing, and it's been a pain. But hopefully at the new office you'll have a shorter commute?

Thank you :-)
Yes, definitely it’s gonna be a shorter commute, it’s just the packing and moving that’s annoying me right now LOL but I’ll survive ;-)

That’s annoying! Do you have an option of just packing your lunches?

I could, but if I do that, then i don’t get reimbursed, and there’s a chance that the company will consider that “if you don’t use it, you don’t need it” and cancel that bit of benefit from my package.
I’ll just have to put more effort into searching for a salad/healthy store in that area.
