Keep dreaming *rolls eyes*

I'm dreaming.... about my next trip, if there will ever be a next trip.
I've decided!
My travel buddies and I originally had a plan to visit Russia (Moscow and St Petersburg and one remote area I forgot the name of) in September. With the COVID-19 situation as it is, I'm banking it's not gonna happen. And IF (and it's one big IF) things resolve in Autumn, I refuse to go to Russia in Winter. So, it's definitely not gonna happen this year.
But anyway.
After much thinking and dreaming and day-dreaming and whatnot, I've decided, if I live to see the borders re-opening and all that, the first place I'd like to travel to is Fukuoka, Japan. Again.
I was thinking of Taipei and Bangkok, but after a lot of brainstorming, I've decided for neither. It's gonna be Fukuoka. Despite I've just been there in 2018, or I should say, it is BECAUSE I was just there in 2018. I travelled with 2 friends, and one of them is a super chill, super slow person.
I went to Tokyo with her a couple years back and in those 5 days, we did almost nothing. We had an overnight in Hakone and that ended up as "Tokyo > Hakone > long bus trip to the Ryokan > stay in the Ryokan > Tokyo".
The following year, I went with another friend to Tokyo and I suggested Hakone again and what happened?
Tokyo > Hakone > explore a lot of Hakone > go up the mountain by rope way/cable car > reach the f*cking cold snow mountain (we were in summer wear) > descent the mountain by rope way/cable car > get on a pirate ship > visit some spooky mountains/shrines > get to Ryokan > use Ryokan facilities to the max > stay the night > morning explore and street food and lunch > Tokyo.
Anyway, I was a little miffed that in my trip to Fukuoka, we passed by a place called Yufuin. My internal mind-target was to walk to the end of the route and reach some lake or another. This friend, once again, reached *her* intended destination of some Swiss roll cake shop and after we got the Swiss roll, decided she was "tired" and wanted to make the return trip.
I'd like to stay at a better Ryokan at Beau as well. We stayed at a shitty place that time because everyone dragged their asses and did not book for anything until the last minute.
And then there's also Mojiko. We went to Mojiko, and *her* intended destination was to the harbor side of Mojiko, cross over for seafood, then cross back and to the train station. What about the other side, the retro side? I asked, and she said "it's late and she's tired" and we went on the train back. WTF?
Once again, I'm of the work hard, play harder group. I paid for the trip. You bet I'd wring myself dry in terms of visiting everything despite getting tired and half dead. I.WILL.SEE.EVERYTHING.
That day, after returning to Fukuoka from Mojiko, they were all "so tired" and stayed in the hotel. I refused and went out and about exploring the area around the station (I forget, Hakata, I think). I found a delicious soft ice cream place. Yummy. Yakiniku. Yummy!
oh, and around the last day, there was "nowhere else to go" so she decided it's just to stay at the hotel. Nooooooooooo. I could have gone to Dazaifu! But they were like "we shouldn't get separated!" "There's not enough time!" I said as long as I leave early, then there's enough time for everything. She goes "nothing is open that early anyway!" And laughed when I said I could simply go take a walk in a (and any one) park.
Have to "play nice" and not start a fight, but I really don't want to go on another trip with her. I kind of get the impression that she got the memo too, and recently (before COVID19) I see her going on trips with other people. OH! But this girl I'm complaining about is not in my "Travel Buddies" group as I mentioned in the beginning (the group for Russia). My "Travel Buddies", despite having some bumpy spots, are overall a smooth group to travel with.
But yes, Fukuoka is my first destination choice once the borders open again. *Dreams on*

Date: 2020-07-22 14:26 (UTC)I truly doubt that Russia will be possible this year, we are expecting second wave in September, once schools and Universities begin. But I am looking forward to reading your impressions of my country whenever that trip happens.
