Macau Tower: AJ Hackett - Sky Walk!
Sunday, 30 August 2020 22:11MY SCARIEST EXPERIENCE YET!!!!!!!
OMG!
I went on the Macau Tower AJ Hackett Sky Walk thingamajig today. It was scary as shit.
Again, another of those post-COVID19 promotions to stimulate the economy, they did some supre cheap package thing and so my sister, cousin, and I decided to go have a walk.
I'm usually not scared of heights. I can go up a tall building and I can look down glass floors and steep cliffs as long as I know that there's something to hold on to, so I thought I'd be OK as there's a rope... and I'm tied to this rope...
BUT IT'S STILL SCARY AND I WAS SCARED SHITLESS!
Coming to think of it why would someone be "scared shitless"? Is it because they've shit themselves?
The guide-girl/lady was really cool. She didn't have a full body harness, she only had a hip harness and she was totally just walking over to the edge, sitting down, one legged swing, OMG it was scary. But she was so cool. I couldn't even take photos easily because the phone was in a special pouch, which did have a hole to ease the photo taking but I had one hand on the rope so I couldn't really easily take photos...
And, I can only walk when I look far.... as soon as I try to look down... wobbly legs. Is that what they say about vertigo?
This was the first pose. She had us walk onto a.... parapet? And then sit down. The sitting down was the scary part because you had to LOOK DOWN. I'm smiling but you'll see I'm holding onto dear life on that frame LOL.
I totally wasn't ready to shoot that photo on the right, with such poor posture and all that but it was damn scary when she said I had to dangle my legs out... OMG!
This one she wanted us to lean out and she assured that we didn't have to hold onto the rope but.... I CAN'T!!! Rationally I KNOW I won't fall but I JUST CAN'T LET GOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo! Jeez, you can see just how stiff I was.
And here she wanted us to, I don't know, aerial yoga ourselves and hang out sideways. No way!
Final photo. Well. My cousin was the bravest one, she didn't seem scared any one bit. My sister refused to do any of those poses.
The lady made a lot of video shots but they didn't send that to us... we only got the photos. I think they are keeping their video shots for their own promotional materials, but I was so shit. Whenever she had me do anything that I had to dangle out I would be laughing and screaming and she actually said "ah, this guest is a nervous laugher!"
I hope they never use any bit of clip with me on it.
When we completed the round, we were left standing outside to see some people do the Sky Jump (a controlled "fall", so, NOT a bungee jump) and the staff there told me to go do the jump next. No... my heart can't handle... maybe another day.... not today.....
Well, it was a fun day. It was scary.
