My first 10k race
Sunday, 11 April 2021 10:41Obligatory show-off photo. I DID IT!
I almost decided not to go as, my life likes to play with me with inconvenient timing, and my monthly friend arrived last night. But when I woke up, I thought I felt okay so I took a painkiller and went ahead and went to the race location.
I personally thought they scheduled the race a little late. 7:30am start time for the 10km race could have gone a lot worse. The sun is out already around 6ish, so we were all really lucky that today was mainly overcast with small patches of sun
I suppose I have to show off this bridge selfie despite not looking my best LOL. This bridge is strictly no pedestrians on any normal day, so the biggest pull for me for this race was to simply get on this bridge LOL. The way up was painful. The painkiller also seemed to have fizzled off and I had major cramps while on the bridge. I decided to simply walk up the bridge instead of running up it.
The way down was a lot easier and I started running again and eventually the pain and cramps were gone on their own. We ended at the Sports Stadium in Taipa. Oh I actually met a friend near the start of the race and we just waved hellos. I didn't see her after. After crossing the finish line, there were a few photo spots but as I was running solo and I'm as introverted as they go, I didn't scrounge up the courage to go to those photo props and asking the staff to help me shoot a photo. Those photo spots are really for groups of friends and running teams.
My running route! The start was a little funky as I started the run but paused it so that I could just press resume when the run actually started, so maybe my numbers are slightly skewed.
And now some random photos of random people in costumes. They must be so..... overheated in them! I also saw a man in a banana costume, and another man in some leotard/spandex type body suit with the Ironman suit pattern I guess.
