Almost the weekend

We've got a long-ish weekend coming up, this being the Easter weekend and all that. Tomorrow (Friday) is a day off. I'm going out with my bestie again, the one who's in a lot of stress lately? We've planned a lunch at a famous-in-China "Sauerkraut Fish" place, and then I'm bringing her to 2 crystal stones shops (hope they are open on a public holiday... they should be open! This is not Europe!)
Today I'm also going out for a long-ish lunch, just because it's a bit far away. I did dress up a bit. It was a friend's birthday last week, and we were only able to find an available time today. I have to say… this is sooooo NOT my style. I usually buy outfits following how a mannequin’s dressed. I don’t mix and match on my own. I don’t normally mix in these smart casual wears with blazer style or suit jackets… The skirt is totally not my style, but I had it for “in case I need it”, but I never really needed it, so I have to fit it into my outfit rotation LOL. I also never, ever, tuck my tops in, so, from top to bottom, everything is new for me.
How does “western culture” look at rounded sunglasses? In Cantonese Chinese, we call these round sunglasses as 盲公鏡 (blind man glasses), probably because on of the earlier TV dramas portrayed some blind guy wearing such. When I got these clip on glasses, I did voice my concern about that, but the shopkeep was smooth and said “with your slightly western looks, you pull off a whole different vibe!”
However, may I direct you back to the focus of my query, he did not refute that these looked like blind man glasses, LOL. Anyway, I’ve decided to ride with the absurd on this.
So Dad is cooking up a frenzy lately again, and the other night he made glorious squid ink spaghetti with clams, so, some variation of the Spaghetti Alle Vongole, I suppose. It was yum! And I had seconds.
After my rant the other day about the cousin’s wife and my project having to replace the receptionist, the “upper management” has now ruled that, in order to tighten the budgets, they are not going to let me hire. Okay, fine, I can live with that. But then they said I should pull the other staff (the troublesome one that I’ve written a few times about before) back to the main office. Now that is just asking for trouble, and my right-hand-girl agrees.
But there's no running away from it. I think the HR is trying have a mini-revenge on me because... I found the story. Long story short, they pushed me to hire a certain person a couple years back DESPITE my protests, then when we had the cost cutting exercise, HR wanted me to fire this person, but I refused because, I wasn't the one to hire the person. If they want to fire, THEY fire the person and not make it ME who decided to fire the person.
So, we're not hiring a receptionist, instead we are bringing this troublesome lady into the main office. It's gonna be tough. And she has already reared her troublesome head already. "Where am I sitting? I told you before so, as you know, in Europe we like to sit in well lit places with sunshine!"
I was THIS close to answering her "look at your home address. Look at the flags being flown outside the government offices. This is not Europe." Petty, I know, but this woman just gets on my nerves.
Her new seat is at the reception, which incidentally, is one of the darkest places yet, and has absolutely no sunlight. LOL.
I can foresee she is going to cause so much problems. And I'm sure the head office will surely one day find her mistakes unacceptable, but until then, I'll let them stew. They caused this shit anyway.
