Money Matters
Monday, 29 August 2022 13:43Oh boy what the heck.
I don't know why, but seeing my Boss preparing to go to the UK, I decided to go hunt out my stash of GBP, did a count, and I have just under 1000 GBP on hand. I also have another 50 GBP note that I know isn't in circulation already 5 years ago.
So I thought, might as well open a foreign currency bank account and deposit all that GBP i have sitting around. I also have the same roughly 1000 in Euros, but I figured my chances of going to one of the European countries is higher than going to the UK, so I'm going to let that EUR cash sit in the closet.
So I go to the bank, and they tell me... they are not accepting the paper notes anymore. I did not make a fuss, so I just went online and saw that... the paper notes can be in circulation until 30 September of this year.
Sh*t.
1000 GBP is not change for me. It's quite a bit of money. Argh.
Now I'm asking my boss if he's willing to buy the GBP from me. I hope he says ok. I mean, he can hold onto that cash and deposit into his UK bank account and not worry about it anymore?
