Last post of the year, maybe!
Saturday, 31 December 2022 18:44I did go and get a camembert cheese... an alternate kind though, because there was no wheel of actual camembert cheese *rolls eyes*.
I looked around at the most promising supermarket that had a cheese fridge and had a decent collection of cheese. The best they had was a triangle slice of Brie. I got a Fromager d'Affinois which I did a quick online search that it's practically a rind cheese like camembert but just produced in a different area, much like you can't call any sparkling wine NOT from Champagne a champagne. I'll see after my experiment tonight. I already got a stick of baguette to go with it as well. 11:30pm I'll slice the baguette, put them in the oven to toast, fix up that cheese and put it in the air fryer.
Just noticed I forgot to check the bottle of Baileys. I think there's still a bit in it, enough for 4 persons.
So, a happy shopping buy I made that impressed me immensely is this "ear cuff" thing, and I got it from Taobao. The brand is Ambie, I read it's a brand under Sony (can't run from big corps I guess), and here's an overview thing for it.
So it clips around your ear and I was pretty impressed that it doesn't hurt even after long use. I've tried a lot of these "air conduction" earphones (I'd like to try a "bone conduction" one), and I prefer this one. The others I've tried are the hook types that hang over your ear? Sort of hurts after long use, and disturbs your glasses, and in case you put on a hat or a cap it nudges on as well. This ear cuff thing is just out of the way, and once you put it on correctly, you don't even feel it's there.
Though I must say the process of putting it on does incite some pain.
Although this one I got has the brand name on it, but I still think it's a bootleg, because I downloaded the app that goes with it but the app just doesn't pick it up, despite my bluetooth being connected, and the device name also shows the official name "ambie AM-TW01" so, yeah, I dunno. On that review website I linked it says it's developed in Shenzhen something, so, it's still a China thing, but maybe not configured to be the "official" product.
I like that I don't have to stuff something into my ears as I'd like to keep the air flowing into my ears. I have noticed I need to clean my ears more frequently, and while I hate the noise cancelling functions of the newer earphones, they are always mistakenly activated (the other Sony one I have mistakes a strong wind as a touch and would activate all kinds of things when I'm on a run and the wind is a bit strong *rolls eyes*)

Date: 2022-12-31 14:24 (UTC)I was running these for a while at work so I wasn't completely blocked from the world. As you mentioned, they were hook over the ears and after a day my tops of my ears were tender. Best for running for a bit, not all day or long commute…. But that's a fault of having to keep the 'speaker' tight to your head.
I eventually switched to etymotics for noise isolation — it got loud in my open office — and the passive 42dB of isolation was a godsend when I code.
Otherwise, I would consider the headphones you got. Thanks for sharing the review.
