Life updates

Been a while since I did an actual life update...
Work
Boss is finally coming back, so life's gonna get busy. Not that it wasn't busy while he was away.... it's gonna be a different kind of busy. I still have all his crap to do while he's away but I can have slightly flexible hours when he's away.
Volunteer
I've had it up to here with that group I volunteer for. It seems all I ever do is complain about them... maybe I should quit.
So, the problem is they need to move soon, but there's no new location in sight. They are still just blindly asking people to donate, and I'm just here logging all incoming donations as they come.
I set up a system, I ask how they want to categorize, they don't say shit. So I set up my own basic system (you know, like dog-specific donation, general donation, membership payment, new shelter, etc...) and then there are certain weird incoming deposits that when I ask, no one answers. And finally when I generate the report, they say, "oh, those are from the other account that we transfer in to this, so technically it's double logged". Had you said it in the beginning, I would have ignored those deposits.
NOW they are crying and asking me to help them distribute donation requests to the "Big 6". I work for one of the "Big 6". I said as much, there's a conflict of interest, so I'd rather my name not show up on anything to do on that. And what do they do, when they can't reach the contact point of specifically my company, they call me and pass me the drasted letter. If I pass it on to the related department, they'd know I'm in. In the end, I manage to find a way to get it passed on without having my involvement known. AND now they are asking "why isn't anyone donating?"
Heck. That drasted letter was ready last year August. You waited till one month before the end of your lease to send them out? Are you trying to be funny?
So I decide to follow up on a few items that they pushed me to do ASAP back then. There's a contract for a coins deposit service... it's a machine, if you throw all your coins in, you can convert into money notes, for a fee. But, if you decide to just donate the amount to one of the charity associations, then there's no charge, and full amount goes to the charity chosen. Busted my ass translating and filling in the required gaps of that contracts in December. I asked "are we live on that cash machine?" and they go "oh, no, we didn't submit the contract"
WTF.
The local telecom has a "bonus point redemption" program, and one of the other charity shelter has a program there, converting the bonus points to cash and donating to them. In order not to say we are just copying them, I suggested we can do something similar and ask banks and credit card companies. I know a lot of people ignore their credit card bonus points. Most people I know used to convert those points to Asia Miles, but now that we are virtually blocked off from the world, I figured it wouldn't hurt to put our shelter in the list.
Then they go "oh, THAT shelter (the one with the program with the telecom) is very aggressive and have their hands in everything. They are rich, and have no problems at all."
WTF. That was my breaking point. They are rich, and they seem to have no problems, because they have an efficient working team and they deal with their problems.
They had a meeting last week, out of spite I didn't go. Well, I really was busy. Meeting was at 9pm. I'm usually only done with the dogs by 9.30pm. Until now, nobody sent out the meeting notes. Usually if I attend I'm the one writing that and I make sure the notes come out ASAP or within a 24-hour bracket. I'm going to test the waters and ask "where are the notes so I can file it away in our meetings folder". It's still early in the day, so I'll give them until tomorrow to let me know. Not sure what I'm going to do if they don't have notes. Will I flip? No. I have to keep chill and gung-ho about everything.
Livejournal
What's everyone's take on it? I know that "Livejournal" as a company may or may not support the war (we wouldn't know), until they confirm or deny it, I'll just consider them as "innocent bystander" for now. I don't think supporting Livejournal means supporting the war, so it's not that that's making me considering the move. It's more about if somehow because of the war then Livejournal has to shut down or close their international business. Heck, I have almost 20-years of my life here. I've tried importing to dreamwidth but it's not working, I don't know why. I'm tempted to try the blogbooker thing, but it's gonna export as pdf or word, then what, can I import that to another blogging service? Will I be using dreamwidth? I know dreamwidth is based on the Livejournal code, but it seems like there's a lot less functionality? I'm considering wordpress, if I must, but it costs a lot more than Livejournal.
Anyway, for now, I'm staying as long as I can.
Shopping
So happy my shopping has come under control again LOL. There's nothing much going on on the Taobao front because of the spike of pandemic. There was a shipment of fresh milk from Hong Kong to Macau, and the packaging tested positive, so there's a bit of worry going around, what if then there's an embargo? Macau doesn't have any natural resources, and it's not a major port, so any goods will come from either Hong Kong or China... and if we close ourselves from Hong Kong, then there's only stuff from China, and I would say I don't trust foodstuff from China, mostly. But we'll see.
Dogs
Max seems to be doing better after 4 sessions of physiotherapy. I think I'll continue with it, despite it costing a pretty penny. It's good I don't have the thirst for shopping crap now.

This is so human. You want the things you can't get, but when you get it, you realize it wasn't such a hype as you imagined it to be. I did a naughty thing and sort of "cheated" the amazon system and changed my country to USA. Now I have Kindle Unlimited LOL. But the titles available aren't the exciting big names, so I'm kind of, underwhelmed. But that's fine. I'll probably use it for some 6 months or so, then I can cancel it.

Date: 2022-03-06 11:59 (UTC)I'm staying at LJ. Like you, I've been here a long time, and don't really feel like moving and starting anew.
As you said, the company is not responsible for Putin's decisions. I am also hesitant to lay all the blame on Russia. Scary world, though. And very sad. ;(

Date: 2022-03-06 12:32 (UTC)If I were some low-level nobody riff-raff, the company wouldn't care what I do in my free time. However, my Boss is somewhat up there mixed with some complicated politics, so anything I do would be in the spotlight by association, not by my own merit, but his. My going out of line might cost him a reprimand or something. And I'm not just a nobody volunteer in that charity, my name is registered up there as a member of the board and all that. The company may challenge that I'm doing that volunteer work and causing a drop in my productivity at work.
I already received a comment in Russian singing praise of the incident and since it's from an unknown account I've deleted it and blocked the user as well. Tough......
